LCpl Sweet has proudly served in the British Army for over 20 years. She began her
military music career with the Band of the Royal Irish Regiment (Reserve), where
she spent 16 years as a trombonist while also working as a peripatetic music
teacher, inspiring young musicians in schools throughout the North Down area. In
2020, she transferred to the Regular Army, joining British Army Band Colchester.
During her four years with the band, she represented the British Army on
ceremonial duties, concerts and international engagements, performing both at
home and overseas. Throughout her military career, music has taken her across
the globe, with performances and visits to Germany, Canada, Indonesia,
Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Jordan. These experiences have allowed her to
represent the Army internationally while experiencing diverse cultures and some of
the world's most remarkable places. LCpl Sweet is passionate about the power of
music to connect people, inspire communities and showcase the professionalism of
Army musicians. Her career reflects two decades of dedicated service, musical
excellence and commitment to developing others through music.
